Shipping is a critical aspect of the selling process. Setting up your shipping options correctly can help ensure your buyers are satisfied and receive their purchases on time. In this guide, we'll walk you through the process of configuring shipping on our marketplace.

To configure your shipping on our marketplace, you first need to decide on the shipping methods you want to offer. You can set up combined shipping, where buyers can purchase multiple items from your store and only pay one shipping fee. If you use combined shipping, this would be the default setting that should be for most of your items; you can then override any individual item's postage requirements. Alternatively, you can configure shipping for each item individually.

  • To set up combined shipping, on the menu in your dashboard, click "Settings," then under "Your Business," click "Combined Shipping".
  • To set up shipping separately for an item, in the combined shipping dropdown on the item page, change the option to "Set shipping separately for this item." This will then allow you to set shipping for the item you are on.

You can set up more than one rule; each matching rule will be shown to the buyer. For example, you could offer free shipping options, then premium shipping options; the lowest price will be selected, but the buyer can choose to upgrade if they wish.

Enter the following information for each of your shipping methods:

  • Status: active or inactive. If you want to disable the service, select "Inactive".
  • Service: A set of preferred service names to display to buyers, or if none fit, you can select another and put details in the note.
  • Note: Add specific service notes, if needed. If you have chosen "Other" in the "Name" field, you should enter the courier's name if possible and any other information the buyer may need to know.
  • Price: You can add the price for the shipping method.
  • Tax: You can also specify the tax rate in percentage that was applied to the price.
  • Weight Start: A numerical value that represents the lowest weight that this shipping method will be applied to. This value must be greater than zero.
  • Weight End: A numerical value that represents the highest weight that this shipping method will be applied to. This value must be greater than the weight start value.
  • Allowed Countries: You can add a list of valid ISO2 country codes to allow shipping to those countries.
  • Disallowed Countries: You can add a list of valid ISO2 country codes to block shipping to those countries.
  • Allowed Postcodes: You can add a list of full postcodes to allow shipping to those areas. Postcodes can also be regex-based, e.g., JE* would block Jersey.
  • Disallowed Postcodes: You can add a list of full postcodes to block shipping to those areas. Postcodes can also be regex-based, e.g., JE* would block Jersey.

In individual item shipping, you can also set one further field:

  • Price Extra Items: Here you can set a different price for further items of the same. For example, if you wanted the first item to cost £3 shipping and the second one an extra £1, this would make the shipping total for this item £4.

It's essential to communicate your shipping policies to buyers clearly. This includes the shipping services you offer, the shipping costs, and the estimated delivery times. You can also use your store policies to set out your return and refund policies and any other information that buyers may need to know.

It is also crucial to keep your shipping settings up-to-date. This includes updating your shipping costs, adding new shipping services, and removing any that are no longer required. Keeping your shipping settings up-to-date will help ensure that your buyers are satisfied and receive their purchases on time.
