Crochet Support Session – 1:1 Personalised Support

Sometimes you don't need a class full of people. You just need someone beside you, patiently guiding you one stitch at a time.

My 1:1 Crochet Support Sessions are designed to give you personalised help, encouragement and guidance in a calm, welcoming environment.

Sessions are taught in the beautiful surroundings of Clinivi Wellness Centre, Darlington, creating a relaxed space where you can take your time, ask questions and enjoy learning crochet at your own pace.

These sessions are perfect for beginners who already have their own crochet materials and would like gentle guidance to get started, as well as existing crocheters who need help developing their skills, understanding a pattern or working through a tricky project.

Whether you are learning your first stitches, feeling unsure about where to begin, struggling to understand a pattern, or simply need someone experienced to help you overcome a crochet challenge, I will support you step by step.

I believe crochet should be enjoyable, not stressful. There is no pressure to be perfect, no expectation to learn quickly, and no judgement if something feels difficult. We will work together at a pace that feels right for you, celebrating every achievement along the way.

What we can explore together

Your session is tailored around you and what you would like support with. We can explore:

  • Learning the basics of crochet
  • Understanding how to use your own hook and yarn
  • Practising crochet stitches
  • Building confidence with techniques
  • Understanding crochet patterns
  • Help with crochet terminology and instructions
  • Troubleshooting projects you are stuck with
  • Improving your crochet skills
  • Learning new techniques
  • UKCA testing guidance

A supportive, personalised experience

Before your session, we can discuss what you would like support with so I can tailor the experience to your needs.

I understand that everyone learns differently, which is why my teaching style is gentle, encouraging and adaptable. My aim is to create a space where you feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and enjoying the process of learning.

Why I offer mindful crochet support

For me, crochet has always been about more than the finished item. It is about creativity, confidence, connection and enjoying the moment you are in.

My teaching approach has been shaped by years of supporting beginners and my Calm With Yarn research, which explored people's experiences of crochet in relation to creativity, focus, relaxation and emotional wellbeing.

The research combined responses from more than 800 crocheters alongside reflections from beginner learners, helping me better understand what people value about crochet and how meaningful creative activities can become part of everyday life.

While everyone's experience is unique and my sessions are not intended to diagnose, treat or prevent any medical condition, I hope they provide a welcoming opportunity to learn, create and reconnect with your creativity.
